Matariki at St Luke’s

This year we celebrated Matariki with a special focus in our 9:30am Eucharist, then gathered on our new decking to bless close to 200 seedlings, many grown from our own site over the past 18 months. Once we’d had lunch (enjoying the sunshine and hospitality on our deck for the first time!) we got to work to get many of them planted and mulched, including in the garden areas around our new building. Our long term goal is to regenerate the ngāhere of the St Luke’s site. We’re especially grateful to Rangihīroa Panoho for his wisdom and leadership in initiating this project and his generosity in contributing many seedlings from his own collection.
